I can't imagine that the original, unoriginal, so-called slasher movie warrants a sequel - as though not enough information about the superficial characters & plot has not yet been revealed. Victor Crowley, a character whose name obviously associated with occultist Aleister Crowley, is certainly not in the same arena as other infamous slashers like Jason or Freddy, in fact, the character is like a cheap comic version of Leatherface. Not even Rob Zonmbie could be so blatantly plagiaristic and laughably low budget. If this recharges the slasher genre, then I guess people are simply getting used to lowered expectations. More over, it looks like the filmmakers are just trying to put as much blood and gore on the screen to cover up the bad effects and fill in all the plot holes. The Hatchet franchise has not saved or revitalized the horror genre, the two-decade long stigma still exists.
