I read about fractals in a science magazine about 35 years ago so the concept is not as mind-blowing to me as to those exposed for the first time, I'm sure. But it does mesh nicely with the holographic nature of the universe theory with which it happens that I'm just getting reacquainted after some 3 decades. Those patterns point to the beauty of nature, a beauty born out of efficiency, in accordance with the Ockham's Razor principle. And you can either see design or mathematical perfection in this; it's a personal call. But what I personally take away is that the universe, from the micro to the macro and all the way to galaxies, looks the same; it's just a matter of perspective. In other words: you can break it down ad infinitum, every little part of the whole will look like the whole, a property of holograms. The implications of this observation are for another day.
