I've been an SVU fan for almost a decade and am pretty loyal to the show. I think, as usual, the episode was thought-provoking and powerful. The following is an issue I had with hospital procedure in the episode. SPOILER WARNING: This episode posed some problems for me in the presentation of the rape kit towards the beginning. When a sexual assault case comes to the hospital, staff is generally very careful about doors being open and closed, who is allowed in and out, and the way in which they present the kit. For someone to simply barge in with a camera (even someone I am assuming is a SANE or sexual assault nurse examiner) is a little unbelievable. Also, the idea that detectives would question a child survivor without an advocate and/or social worker present is also questionable. I work in this field and all survivors, esp. children, are given a great deal of privacy and care, for the most part. Of course, there are horror stories in every hospital. But knowing Benson and Stabler the way the show has always presented them, this situation would not happen.
