Saw Black Swan today and it is effin amazing! This is a true piece of art. All artists-musicians, painters, moviemakers, etc. could stand to watch this to step up their own game. Colors, Lighting, Acting and Camera angles all working together to bring the painful magic. When I started to feel uncomfortable in the movie, (due to its intensity) and wanted to mentally escape, I leaned over and told my friend, "Wow! The lighting is forcing me to stay in the feeling of the movie!" Of all things--the lighting! Aronofsky and crew paint the landscape and set the tone that ensures you are RIGHT THERE and there is no escape! The screen literally vibrates the truth of the characters. This movie is brilliant, uncomfortable and riveting. I swear the entire theater was simply spellbound during the last 12 minutes. I say Oscars for all! Best Movie! Best Director! Best Actress! Best Cinematography! Best Costume Design! And the list could keep going. Natalie Portman's acting is jaw-dropping in this! My friend and I planned on making it a double feature but we were so blown away by this movie that we had no room in our brains and bodies for a second movie. So, we just grabbed a bite so we could talk about it more and decompress. Come Oscar day, I'll be rooting for all these actors, the director and everyone else who worked on this film. Loved seeing a d**n good movie on Christmas day!
