A sci-fi treatment of the Midas legend features the distaff side of the space castaways having to hold the fort, and getting involved with an escaped criminal and the space policeman on his trail. A lot of interesting ideas here are somewhat undermined by the chintziness of the costumes and props; the ominpotent talking "disc", the alien hounds, and Penny as a platinum statue especially stand out as being unconvincing.
This was still early days yet for the space family Robinson, though, and the production values would improve (at least a little), and it's heartening to note that some effort was still made to explain things like how all the aliens they encountered spoke perfect English; later on, when things got wilder, it was all kind of taken for granted.
