Richie character was never posed to be streetwise which is why he is always getting in trouble. he is more of the clueless fool that his story evolves more as the seasons progress but it was hinted in the very first episode about why Richie is around if u havn't watched the series yet keep watching

Oky im a geek so I have always liked the idea of highlander and wotnot... sorta like vampires but more medieval.1. Richie is as streetwise as I am a dog. Streetwise people wouldn't go into a drug deal and pop there mouths off.2. WTF is up with the Desert Eagle Come one people; if your going to get a gun, at least get something that is more practical then a hand cannon which will knock your arm out of socket. Did you note how he shot it "one handed"? Not gonna happen. Yeh I understand this show was late 80s early 90s, but people prefer acting to make there characters more evil; not the size of a gun. 3. Plot was excellent; hell the whole premise of the series is excellent. It was worth an hour of my time to watch it. 4. This isnt necessarily a critique; but can you believe that we used to wear crap like these guys? ROTFLMAO!!!5. After about 3 episodes we get the idea that Richie is a young fella who always get into trouble... it gets old; i think it was overplayed throughout the whole series... same with Mac... on the flip side as the series progress you can see the acting is getting better. 6. I think it is the idea of immortals and the overall plot of the series that kept people interested... hell in IMHO i think Joe was the best actor of the bunch; followed by Methos.
