I'm an avid fashion fan, and follow my favorite designers & shows every season, but Ports 1961 is not one of the brands on my radar. So I thought this hour-long documentary would give me a good insight into the brand. Well, I have to admit, the talking, talking, talking, talking and focusing on mundane details actually put me to sleep! Thank goodness for the pause button. I did come back to stick it out.
The film-makers should have gone into the history behind the brand more: what they're about, how Tia came to become the designer, etc... I had to Google her in order to find out more. They kept saying "It's a family business," but didn't go much into which family, or how Tia was connected with them.
The part of the film where Tia is going over individual pieces on the rack, is the most annoying because they shot from a low angle, and you can't see anything she's talking about. You could've filmed this part to really SHOW the clothes, but instead we get a lot of descriptions that become a chore to listen to, when not backed up by actual visuals.
This could've been a more succinct film, if edited down to half the time, and a better narrative throughout the movie. Personally, I didn't feel any stress, or urgency of this team putting out this show. They seem like they have it together. Watch "Unzipped" if you want something more interesting and entertaining.
