Check out Mr. Monk Takes His Medicine from Season 3 - he goes on medication and becomes a completely different person - like what you said about losing track of your checkbook balance, but his entire life. I think he might've been okay with a different medication or a better-tailored dosage - maybe they'll pick up the thread again in another episode. There was a call-back in this episode to the yo-yo from Mr. Monk and the Captain's Marriage, so they do bring stuff back sometimes.

But yeah, this was one of the more hilarious episodes of Monk, for sure.

It's really hard to make me laugh at things I know are going to happen...but I did...over and over...

Just ludicrous scenarios, and perfect gag timing; they just kept coming. I kept thinking, "Oh, no--he's not REALLY gonna do that..."--but then, he does. How did the actors ever get through the filming without cackling and snorting in the middle of a line?

Garbage pick-up strikes shouldn't be funny. People need to be paid fairly. People need health insurance. People need to know they won't be laid off at the drop of a hat. A garbage strike shouldn't be funny. But oh, it was. Be kind and appreciative toward your city sanitation workers, or someday you may be very, very sorry.

Very special guest appearance by Alice Cooper. You won't believe why.

I might have to watch this again soon.

Truthfully adrian monk is a severe ocd dude, but this episode is a classic. He freaks out on a higher level and is even mailing his trash to someone else because he doesn't want to deal with it. Love it!

Usually I find Monk a little boring, but this one really brought out the crazy.

I do really miss having Monk out there in new episodes, though; we obsessive-compulsives really do have a gift. And a curse.

He really ought to try the pills, though. This episode suggests Monk would do an even better job if he could relax more. OTOH since I started taking the pills I have completely lost track of my checkbook balance.
