The one statement that Pastor Jakes made that stood out to me was, "Jesus didn't come that we might have Church BUT that we may have LIFE and LIFE ABUNDANTLY." This abundant life can only be attained by receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior AND living in accord with His teachings. The two are inseparable if one is to truly experience life and life abundantly.
From a Christian perspective what I received from this message is that it taught me realistic and practical Christian living in the area of repositioning, because making changes in life is inevitable; so it was good practical teaching on how to approach making changes or repositioning in life.
I believe that God is very concerned with Christian living, because when we are living lives that are lived wisely and in harmony with the truth of His Word and His Spirit then we are actually in essence adorning the Gospel Message. When unbelievers see us as Christians, living wisely and making good decisions, etc. It has the potential to be something that is desirable to them; thereby making an opportunity to share with them the Gospel Message. I have led quite a few people to Christ, because of this simple reason, they saw something different, something better, something to be desired. In order for me to get to that state it took a lot of sound biblical teaching.
I thank God for you Pastor Jakes. I thank God for your many teachings that have taught me how to actually live. When I was in sin and darkness, I wasn't living. I didn't have a clue about living. I was stumbling in the darkness. I thank God for your teaching ministry that teaches me how to live wisely--living skillfully.
I'm Ready, I'm Ready, I'm Ready.
