Hulu - Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: The Cold Open

The fact that this show did not last just shows you how bad some of the decisions are in TV. This show was far better than most on the tube, yet they cancelled it anyway.
One of the cool things about it was that you actually grew to care about the characters, which is not something you usually get, or at least not that quickly, in most shows. It was intelligent, funny, and moved quickly. It will be a long time before something this good gets on the air again.

Smart & a great show. Wish it would have made it.

This show is simply way too good for television. Hence only one season.

I too am fond of Gilbert and Sullivan. However, owing to this my friends believe me to be, to varying degrees, a popinjay and/or a homosexual. I don't understand why Aaron Sorkin thought this would work on 99% of the population, 98% of whom probably do not know who Gilbert and Sullivan are. Well, maybe they recognize the snippets they hear on The Simpsons and Family Guy, I dunno.

Either way, it's incredible that he had Matt agonize over the open for the whole episode, and then his great burst of inspiration turned out to be... a Gilbert and Sullivan parody. Wonderful, you rewrote the lyrics of Modern Major General. That makes you the same as dozens of people on Youtube, all of whom did about as well as you did.

I still like the show, but this reminds me of one of the show's biggest problems: the sketches were rarely funny.
