Hello Hulu-ers, my name is Connor Myers, and I am Dr. Jeff Myers' son. Contrary to what some people have posted as to the career of my father, he was not terminated. The family actually sent our family a thank you card and was very gracious for his service to their family. My father left MassGeneral to pursue a career in the medicinal development industry, and is now a drug director with Gilead Pharmaceutics. He is a very intelligent man, and if you were to look at his full history as a surgeon, he is one of the more celebrated men of his field, and has performed amazing cases on many many children. The program at MassGeneral was fairly new when he joined from LeBohner hospital in Memphis, TN, and he felt that after 3 years, and began feeling an urge to pursue a more academic approach, eventually working for Genzyme then transferring to Gilead. He never regrets his time in the hospitals that he has worked at and is always gracious when discussing them. He maintains a great relationship with MassGeneral, and they greatly appreciate his service to them. It's entirely possible his program at Mass Gen was shut down. But, it's more likely that he didn't have the chance to go say goodbye. They clearly left a while after the surgery and the surgeon was only their doctor for the surgery. The so for that week that the baby was in surgery and in recovery from, that's the only time they needed to see the surgeon. After that is was passed on to the peds cardiologist and then their regular pediatrician. So, it's really not all the surprising that they didn't say goodbye to Doc Meyers. I think some people believe that once you enter the medical world...perfection is expected, but it's not! This is why medical school takes a while to complete successfully...perfection isn't reality but doing everything you can to help a patient is!   See 8 other replies

Some viewers seem to be missing the point. The baby was dying. If the doctor did nothing it surely would have died. He tried to do something that was difficult and it didn't work out perfectly. Human flesh isn't clay, it doesn't mold into what we want. The person who said he is expected to be perfect better stay out of either medicine or management of any kind. People, including this witch, are not EXPECTED TO BE perfect. That only works in fiction drama.   See 8 other replies

As Heather mentioned, the heart of a baby is smaller than that of an adult, which makes surgery all the more risky. On top of that, the patient in question had major complications only a few hours after birth. The complications caused by Dr. Myers weren't serious enough to majorly compromise the child's care. He admitted to his mistakes, went over what went wrong with the parents and went back to fix what had been done wrong.   See 8 other replies

I too was curious and looked it up. Apparently they suspend the child heart program (which Dr. Meyers was hired for) as major mistakes were made during two different surgeries.
