Sure there are the bad things like "I've never seen a blip like that one before". I've seen a blip like that before, two episodes ago in fact.
But those aside re-watching the first season made me remember my original experience with Lost in Space, as a kid. I watched the first season which got me hooked, then spent the rest of the series hoping the next episode would be like those early episodes. Unfortunately they got worse and worse.
Like other first season episodes this one contains:
- ships landing and flying around, rather than exploding onto the scene
- real meat behind the planet's history and existence rather than psychedelic colors
- A more underplayed and sinister Smith rather than the wild character on exhibit by the third season
- More from the whole cast, rather than the Will, Smith and Robot focus the series had all too often in the last two seasons
I had forgotten that the early episodes were so good.
