Nice to see Jon Favreau in this sort of "low-brow" role, I love it when actors change it up because then you really get to see how talented they are. Great concept about a guy returning to where he comes from and everyone thinks he's a success, the main character almost reminds me of myself in a way. By the way, interesting choice for that childhood flashback "pee sequence" in the beginning. hahaha

This movie proves that ignorance is not bliss. This movie also shows that refusing to stay in the darkness means living the people you once knew behind. A rolling stone gathers no moss means a growing person goes through many "friends". Water seeks it's own level and as you raise your level your old friends disappear. Birds of a feather flock together. He left his flock of turkeys to join a higher flying flock and when he went to visit his old flock he found they couldn't hang with him.
People's fears are strong in this small town. Fears are like heavy weights, they keep you from flying very high. So sad that these people don't have access to the help they need. What a shame. No one is really a turkey. We are all Eagles, eagles with weights tied to them. Remove your baggage you eagles and fly high again. Those weights come off easily. All you have to do is look at your baggage very carefully and they just fall off. These people are all just avoiding looking at what's really bothering them. Instead they drink and look to the world for their validation. What a mistake! it's only by looking within that the chains that bind us can be removed.
There is NOTHING to fear about yourself. Know this and you float to Heaven. Know Thyself and you shall be free. Who are you? What is the ONE thing you really want? All you really want is to be happy, and if you really looked within and say yourself, you would know that wanting to be a happy person in a happy world is not ugly but, perfectly holy.
