Miss Allie, I agree with you! I have had so many INTERNS almost kill my patients with potassium, give a crazy patient about to come out of the bed only .5mg of Ativan. Scream at you for calling about critical labs, not call back for hours!!!! after a stat page. During a code a doctor wanted me to give vasopressin to a patient with bp in the 200 range with a heart valve that was about to FAIL! I have been punched, kicked, clawed, screamed at, cursed at, spit at!!!! you name it! And you have to know your stuff when working in the ER, especially a hospital with major trauma like she is working in.... I don't see a problem with her attitude at all. I work with a lot of nurses like her and if I were a patient in her ER. I know that she would have the balls to stand up to the Doctor and be a patient advocate.

The ER of a teaching hospital is an incubator for cocky nurses. Amanda is is an example of what happens after a nurse gets a little experience and starts thinking they know more than the residents who are telling them what to do. They may know a few moves but they don't know why they work. In their mind that's superfluous knowledge but it's a huge part of the difference between doctors and nurses.

Just rewatched this episode and I agree completely, this nurse is way too overbearing and believes she knows best and should be in control. I don't mean at all that nurses don't know what they are talking about/doing but if they want to act like she does, they should have went to medical school so they could be the one calling the shots.

She does come off as such a cocky person!!! I really dislike watching her, especially when she chews her gum like a cow while making stuck up remarks. gah!

The nurses and doctors in the ER seemed to get along with her just fine. You can't really know someone from watching a few minutes of them on TV so maybe we shouldn't be so quick to pass judgement.
