The episode showed some of the things I deal with on a daily basis. Like being ignored or treated like I'm stupid. My wife gets asked what I would like to eat because they don't see us as a couple it's more like they see her as my caregiver.
When the girl describes peoples reaction, some are wonderful and understanding, but some do act like we have no right to exist. Others just ignore us or treat us like our physical issues affect our brain.
I've only had one physical disagreement since I've been in the chair and that was with some idiot that accused me of living off of his tax dollars and a drain on society as a whole, pathetic cripple was what he kept calling me. I just wanted to get into a building for my job interview, but he kept pushing me back every time I tried to get passed him. I finally just forcefully removed him from in front of the door. By this point the police were there and he was charged with abuse of the disabled... I didn't press charges because I figured his broken nose, arm, and foot would remind him that you never know what one of us "pathetic cripples" are capable of.
Didn't mean to go on a rant, but this episode really struck home for me. It's ironic that when this one first aired I was very much into running and cycling and had a very different view of the disabled that I have now. Same episode, same person, two completely different viewpoints.
