I remember this episode, vaguely, as the reason my mother did not permit me to watch this series when it was originally on television. That being said, I watched every chance I got.
The Barney Fife crack... Not that I really expected Mulder to pass that up, but I wanted to reach through the screen and brain-dust him.
Watching Mulder do the Rabbit-Ears-Hula trying to get the tv to work was priceless.
Okay... the farm was built before the Civil War. No running water. But they had a pretty darn modern looking cement front walk. Did that strike anyone else as slightly incongruous? Yes, I know that the first true artificial cement was created in 1824, and so would have been available. It just looked odd.
