I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary. My grandfather landed at Omaha Beach and eventually wound up in Denmark. He was an M.P. guarding German soldiers. I'd have to say his time serving was pretty close to the end of the war for the Nazis. I have a very nice stack of letters he had sent home to my grandmother and also some letters from folks in Denmark that became very good friends with my grandfather. One woman had knitted some baby booties for my infant father and mailed them to my grandmother. A few of the ladies corresponded with my grandmother quite often while grandfather was there. I honestly think all of us would have been good friends and neighbors if we lived in the same places. They were great people!My grandfather often told me how nice the people in Denmark were. He really enjoyed being over there at that point of the war since things were calming down. He felt extremely lucky to be where he was and had nothing but good to say about the country and it's people. I would love going there to visit and maybe finding some of the folks he knew still alive. That probably isn't realistic, but it's a very nice daydream. I'd at least like to go visit Denmark, Sweden, and Norway before I'm too old to travel. Beautiful countryside and beautiful people. :)
