I was born in 1981, 8 years after Bruce Lee's death yet, I still look at him as probably the worlds greatest role model. Not only in the world of martial arts but in nearly all aspects of life. Bruce's perception, philosophies and theories towards any and every situation were absolutely magnificent! I always loved his quote "Be like water"! I know he said many great things and many better than that but that one just always stuck with me. I'm a strong believer in his "no way" as "way" philosophy. I have no martial arts training other than a few things my cousin taught me, whom of which, holds a 2nd black belt in tae kwon do. I've sparred with friends and had my share fights and I've always used Bruce's philosophies to help me control the situation, to "find what works and what doesn't" and lets just say, I've won some and lost some. Regardless of the outcome of every fight, each one made me a better person as well as a better fighter. Now, I'm not one to start any physical conflict with anyone but every time I've ever fought I heard Bruce's words in my head "be like water".I've been interested in studying JKD as well as many other martial art styles to find my "way" but never had the opportunity or the money, lol. Anyway, Bruce showed the world many great things, mostly through martial arts but many find it hard to look deeper, to see the peace that he was teaching as well. Like you said Rome, enlightenment, both spiritual and physical! Finding peace within yourself as well as standing and fighting for what you believe in! Bruce was a great man in every way, shape and form. Many like to say "I wish I could be just like Bruce Lee" but I just want to be the absolute best that I can be. Thats what Bruce wanted for everyone, to be the best that "you" can be and to push yourself to be just that!
