Second, the agenda of Linda and Roxanne was to turn a sh*thole (the Latonia building) into a gem in a sh*thole (Venango county, PA) They, and everyone who worked to help make it happen succeeded. But I never would've guessed that in an indirect way, that Diane Gramley was more of a useful idiot that actually helped make the grand reopening of the Latonia a smashing success. People that listened to her poison ended up getting curious about what they were really up to. And they learned that the "agenda" was to show off a gem. They also learned that Diane Gramley is losing credibility fast. Gramley never once denounced the violence against anyone that she didn't like, in this case, gay folks. I've been to Oil City many times, and physically, it's a beautiful little town. But the people there look at any outsider, black, white, gay, straight, male, female, christian or not with the utmost of suspicions. "What do you want?" or "What are you doing here?" were the two most asked questions posed to me. As for the openness of Oil City, they have a long, long way to go, but they're off to a great start. But after my numerous negative experiences in Venango county, PA, I'm hopeful, but still skeptical. A leopard still can't change it's spots. The film gets 5 stars from me. The majority of Oil City's people don't even get one. There are basically two kinds of people associated with that county. Those who stayed & those who left. Maybe there's hope for the valley of death after all. Good Luck for those who are trying to change. You already know that you're fighting an uphill battle, but you're also making progress.
