The credits here give credit to the short story "I, Robot" written by Eando Binder in 1939. Isaac Asimov wrote several robot short stories between 1940 and 1950 that was to be published as a collection in 1950 called "Mind and Iron" but which the publisher changed to "I, Robot" over Asimov's objections. Will Smith's movie draws loosely from Asimov's stories and Asimov drew his inspiraton from Binder's story on which this episode is based.

This was definatly the insiration for the I Robot movie.

No. The movie is based on Isaac Azimov's short story collection. Although the movie's story is vastly different from Asimov's story.

It's no "Twilight Zone", but very, very good all the same. Very cool to see such a young Leonard Nimoy, and this was a nice variation on the old Frankenstein story.

Stupid Observations:
The way people pronounced the word "row-butt" back then is funny. It's also amusing that in the beginning of the show, one guy actually thinks it's a good idea to go after a 300 pound robot with a pitchfork.

Spoiler: The writers were really ahead of their time. The way Adam is taught in this episode is exactly the way many robotics engineers and scientists teach AI robots today - building upon layers of learning, as if they were babies.
