I just finished watching all the episodes of "The Outer Limits - Original Series", in order. (thanks, Hulu!)
For the most part, I loved watching these episodes now. As a kid, the show was on after my bedtime, and the times I snuck to watch, it gave me nightmares. Sure, the special effects are crude by today's standards, but more is done by playing with your imagination. Many of the stories are thought experiments that deal with human instincts and ideas that are timeless. It's also fun to look up each episode on IMDB.com while watching them to see what fruitful careers these actors had. The Outer Limits certainly pulled in a lot of talent!
That being said, it was sad to watch this last episode, "The Probe". Not just because it's the end of this series, but also because it really pales in comparison to the rest. Peggy Ann Garner was a child actor more than twenty years before appearing in this show, and for whatever reason, her character here is extremely annoying. Maybe if she didn't have her mouth gaping open all the time, or wasn't looking and nodding at everyone in such a contrived way... but perhaps at this point the director knew the show had been cancelled and didn't care about keeping up the quality of performances of earlier shows.
IOverall though, the "Outer Limits - Original Series", is a great example of television from that era. It's delightful to have it access to it again, and for new generations of viewers to discover it.
