************** Watch the series first. This post is mostly an ending discussion.First off, I want to say that this is a great series. Strong characters, very dark plot, a really good villain (especially after you find out why he did what he did), and absolutely no stupid filler or dumb comedy. The action scenes are decent enough, but the story itself is very powerful. I would definitely rate this really high. But don't expect too many smiles upon finishing it.As for the ending. It is one of those endings that are entirely opened to interpretation. You can speculate all you like, I do not think there is any "right" answer. When looking deep into the literary aspects of the series and carefully watching the final scene, here is my opinion:Zwei wouldn't be waxed by a random assassin from that cart. Pretend that cart never even was there. After beating Cal, he proved he was the best assassin around. Besides, if he was waxed by a random schmuck in a cart he or Eren would NOTbe smiling.Eren shot Zwei killing him, then killed Eren killed herself via poison flower. They both were nothing more than ghosts at this point, and had nothing left after all they went through. Zwei recovered his memories and Eren found her homeland (Mongolia). That was their only purposes. It was a fitting end (if somewhat tragic) for both of them. They lived as ghosts and died as ghosts... together.
