I consider myself a genuine scifi fan. I've seen most TV shows and movies made. I've watched very fewT V dramas or sitcoms.
I was a little kid when I first saw LIS but immediately became a scifi appreciator. Over the years I've watch most scifi shows get canceled because most people would rather watch stuff people like me think are boring and stupid. Sure scifi maybe dumb to, but it isn't boring.
LIS started out well enough being written by scifi writers and Irwin Allen was the man.
The show took it's self seriously enough, important to believe that the fantasy world you are acting in is real, but soon the suits who run TV and neither care about or understand TV viewers brought in the other type of TV show writers and made this show stupid like Gilligan's Is or whatever.
Smith became a real dork, but in these early shows he'd sell his mother for 5 cents, a genuine villain.
Look at the back ground in these first 2 first episodes, pretty good for it's day. And as for those of you who complain when a detail doesn't make sense, consider that Jack Bauer's cell phone only doesn't work when it enhances the story.
I enjoy watching these episodes for free on hulu.com, what an awesome web place this is. I'm totally enjoying Total recall 2070.
By the way I stop my TV services years ago, give my hard earned money to Netflix.
Cheers, Stroker John
