Tries to be: quirky & funny, -- Is: cheesy & stupid.
Danny Aiello doesn't seems to feel comfortable in his role as an average-Joe car dealer, Al, whose mundane life is turned upside-down soon after Jolee's "quirky" character, Ellie, enters it. What ensues is one of those situations that could have been easily resolved by simply calling the cops -- but no, you need to develop something resembling a "plot". Anne Archer is wonderful as Ellie's mom, Julie; too bad the movie doesn't live up to her performance.
Eventually it becomes obvious that the quirky dark humor isn't working so they shift gears to "whacky & zany" just to make sure the audience knows that this is supposed to be funny. Danny Aiello now seems more comfortable doing over-the-top humor.
If not for the Angelina Jolee shower scene, the (free) price of admission would be too high.
