I agree, kenny smith does not know boxing. back in the day reno and vegas were run by crooked mobsters and you had know other way but to play the games thier way. things are a little different now, but you can still lose everything there. Great story with a real life true boxing champion who did a decent job at acting his part.

Kenny Smith said it, "I don't know boxing!". He knows what he don't know, since he did not recognize Boom Boom Mancini, a real champion, playing Charlie Davis. The acting and dialogue in this picture sucks. But the portrayal of the boxing world and the action are spot on.

I'm no expert on boxing. I don't like it much, actually. I seriously doubt the admittedly corrupt boxing commission, would allow one promoter to monopolize both sides of the ring. That could quickly discredit (aka: cost the commission their cash cow) the entire franchise. Think of this film as a low budget, less-ambitious Rocky.
