There are too many things to list in this movie that make it the cornball champ of all movies in my opinion. Question, How can all the people at the Earth's core be speaking with a British accent, much less English. Lol! My hat is off to Doug McClure who had the difficult task of trying to make the fight scenes look as believable as possible as he jousted with the silly looking dummies swung to and fro or the large paper machete "monsters". Lol! When you think about it, the special effects are kinda pathetic when you realize what had already been done 8 years before in MGM's 2001, A Space Odyssey, a masterpiece of science fiction and special effects. If you watch it today, it still looks futuristic as opposed to the original Star Trek, the original Battle Star Galactica, etc. I never did get to see The Core, which I believe was similar, but without the paper machete monsters. :-) Watch this if you like. I myself could go either way on this. I'll let you decide.

That princess was fine!!! Megan Fox has nothing on her.As for the movie, I liked it.Old fashion but imaginative and man that princess was F'n fine. I thought remake but you know what happens to remakes, they destroy them.No No keep it original.You'll value it more.Cool flick.

I really liked this movie, it would be a classic in my eyes. And along with The Jouney to the center of the earth. This is really neat. I'm glad they took into consideration what the sky would look like underneath magma. And I've no doubt it'd be that color or red or orange. I think it was interesting that the ape men where tellopathic and could talk to the mujahs. Though in all actuallity I don't think giant flying ugly lizards are that smart, but then again you never know. I really like how they had the jungle and the indigenous people too it all fit together.
Though now the monsters would look much better with the digital effect. I couldn't help but laugh to myself about that plastic bird type thing chasing David and the Doc around. Though I wondered why the Doc didn't comment about the egg type things on the ground in that scene. I mean it could have been an angry mom protecting her eggs but they might have just left it out for budget perposes. Anyway its a great scifi classic, although I wish David stayed with the native princess. But then again not everything's perfect.

Is a prime example of the imagination of some of the people back in my grandfathers time. I have seen this movie many times and will see it many more though time. It is a great classic. a SOLID 10 IN MY BOOK.

I had never seen him play a part like this before. I had to do a double take on his voice...one of the greats.

I loved this movie when I first saw it on tv when I was a kid. I even have my own dvd copy of it in my video library. I can't help thinking what an awesome flick it would even today if they removed all the optical effects and rubber monsters and replaced everything with digital effects....kinda like what G. Lucas did with his original Star Wars back in the late 90's. It would look great and hold up today because the plot is taken from a classic and the acting and script is pretty good. There are several Doug McClure sci-fi movies from the 70's that would look great with new effects like THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT. That was my fav.
