This is a childhood favourite of mine.

Cutesy message pic for youngsters--be happy for what you've got--the grass ain't always greener on the other side! Filmed in Virginia where Spacek lives and her own daughter played little Suzy (a kickball kid). The two Metchik boys played the brothers, with another Metchik kid as the Girl Scout. Even de Laurentiis had her own Igor as the boy in the black jacket. So--all about Moms here, director, actress, etc. Sissy did real well using different teeth, accents, and padding for the various roles, and was nicely entertaining. I loved how Jeremy used the line in the limo of "Do you have any Grey Poupon?" lol. Very cute, but definitely a "for kids" family flick. I decided to watch this now as a grown-up wanting some whimsy, and I liked Maureen Stapleton too. I thought the ending was way funny--kind of a surprise actually, how lighthearted it ended.

Sissy Spacek is a national treasure, and I'm talking about the actress, not the characters. As for trading in mothers, the market was rigged against the children; but their real mom was as good a choice as any. There are way too many children who would benefit by trading in theirs for her.The mom in "The Runaway Bunny" is pretty good, too. Cinderella's stepmom, not so much. :)
