Rita, it is disturbing how you view the US, the reasons people move here, and how they should act upon arriving. Your last reply to Milandon is laughable. Who cares whether or not she has been to the Middle East or overseas? Not only does it not prove your point, but it has nothing to do with the argument. Also, nothing she said indicates your accusation. I have been to the Middle East and overseas a lot and that is irrelevant to the fact that the allied forces did draw borders all over the Middle East and Africa that made no sense and caused a lot of unrest. It is irrelevant to the fact that the US has pumped a lot of training and resources into the Middle East and other parts of the world that have been turned and used in horrible ways. Also, stop confusing culture with "barbaric ways." Different countries have different ways of doing things which makes them... different. Not better or worse, Do you make fun of the Amish in Pennsylvania?
Don't get me wrong. I love the USA and I am proud to be an American, but first off that does not mean that I pretend that we are a perfect nation. I do love our constitution and the bill of rights. Like the part of the first amendment that mentions "respecting an establishment of religion" and "free exercise of religion."
As far as that episode goes, I love it when people see examples of acceptance, understanding, tolerance, open mindedness, and thoughtfulness on TV. It can be hard to portray and idea of community conquering differences, but instead of picking every moment apart which can be done to anything in life or TV, why not encourage positive messages?
By the way, those people you call barbarians and savage are the ones who invented Algebra and so many things that make your life so comfortable.
