I remember when this came out and it sucked and now watching it with my girl some 30 yrs later it really suck big monkey nutz . On its defense it was a b-movie but strike me dead if i ever watch that again
I don't care how green we get these days; it's not desperate enough to actually think this film as good or thought-provoking! It really REALLY sucks!! Even commentary thrown at it from mst3k wouldn't be as funny. This was made in 1977? What horrendous effects! this is the same year Star Wars came out and they had a shoestring budget also. But to overpraise this movie just reminds me of how desperate people are to think of it as a thought provoking message to preserve our environment. This sin't an 'Inconvenient Truth'; it's a B movie about huge freaking ants: with laughably bad effects!
Obviously this movie sucks. Its a B movie from the 70's. However the most annoying part of this movie is the sound effects of the ants. When the movie pans to these creatures a loud high pitch squeal persists until the ants are no longer in view. I kept adjusting the volume because the ants were so much louder than the rest of the movie. Great way to blow two hours though!
...show up 27 minutes into the movie as I scanned through. I tuned in to see if Joan Collins gets eaten. She reportedly said this was her worst ever acting experience.
This movie is great! When these types of movies show on TV, I always have to sit and watch them. I love how "radioactive material" makes things get huge. So funny! Gotta love cheap movies.....
