Now, I know that archeology is pretty much based in the world of opinion with a little evidence mixed in. But Hawass seems to make an opinion, force it on everyone with VERY little evidence, if at all. He breaks open this coffin, declares the man Egyptian and says because of this man being egyptian, all the builders could not have been slaves, and Egypt was not a slave-driving nation. Let's take a little look at biblical history for just a second:
The Hebrews were brick slaves. They made brick for building the structures of Egypt. Did the Hebrews build the Pyramids? Well, there isn't any Biblical text regarding this, but if all the 'loyal, loving egyptian workers' were building the pyramids, who was building the cities?
The Hebrews WANTED TO GO BACK TO EGYPT. They were well cared for there, even in their slavery. They were well fed, maintained, there was little to worry about other than death from overwork and death of newborn boys (and girls). Egypt knew what they were doing-care for your workers and they can produce you more workers. It's idiotic (using Hawass' terminology) to not take this into account.
Other than having to 'deal' with Hawass (who pretty much ruins everything that has to do with Egyptology for me), and the aforementioned audio issues and the absolutely incredible non-find at the end of the episode. Space! Oh my goodness! Pbbbttt. FAIL, NatGeo, but I will continue to watch your episodes in hope of learning something interesting!
