There is nothing about the acting especially in this episode that compromises realism. The feelings and emotion in the characters even if they are in a Hollywood program is next best to being actual events that could possibly be take place in outer space with traditional values and cohesive family. Granted there are props of a few that seem unlikely, but so far we have made it to the moon. And since the galaxy has been under the research of great scientist for decades and have found other planets (not the moon) that can sustain life, this program Lost in Space really isn't technically that unrealistic.
John Robinson deserves High Credit for his High Demeanor and Admirable Commanding characteristic which to portray medieval era, and he was trained in fencing and likes chess in his real life, obvious attributes of good clean values.
