I've verbally heard of stories like this but to see it and hear it from someone who experienced it is moving. I don't think that I could have predicted the end of this movie. Great job by the film makers.

This a wonderful way to pay tribute to a man who started out as a Nazi officer, but whose ability to see the human being behind the label "Jew" enabled him to fall in love with -- and ultimately save the life of -- a young woman during the Shoah. By telling the life story of this woman, and sharing in the highs and lows of her recollections of those days, we make their struggles and sacrifices more meaningful. It is such a shame that his own fate was determined by those who cold not rise to his level of spiritual and moral greatness.
