I've witnessed the 1st 3 episodes and then skipped to the episodes that explained Mylene's past to come to a personal conclusion about this so called East/West Bloc countries and the fight for freedom. This series is well put together and makes one that truly has a world view about them think in terms of what is really going on right in front of us on a day to day basis without our knowledge. They make mention of the cold war which, in relative terms, ended almost 20 years ago between The Soviet Union and The United States of America, or at least we are told so.
I find that, even though the direction of this episode seemed simplistic in my mind in, the form of oppressed people making their way to a another land in hopes of finding this fable of "freedom from restriction" and then finally being gunned down as an entire family played a very smart and engaging view into what violence destroys and creates all at the same time. The West-bloc trained and received one it's greatest, if not the best of the best, agents all the while this agents conscience and inner voice up against the rigid commands of her superiors plays devil's advocate, God's advocate, and the spectator.
