Hulu - Battlestar Galactica Classic: Saga of a Star World, Part 1

I remember watching this pilot when it premiered. (it was interrupted when Carter, Sadat, and Begin signed the Camp David Accords) This show wasn't bad, but it could have benefited from fewer cute kids, a more realistic scenario (Planets at war having no other defenses except for space based aircraft carriers... cylon fighters being enough to destroy all civilization, one shot at a time...PLEASE?!?) and the newest versions modern special effects. Likewise, the newer version could have benefited, in the midst of all the realism, from more of a sense of adventure, and a bit more of the originals sense of hope.

i remember watching this in the military. frankly we just watched it for the 70s babes but it had a good story to it ( until 1980 which sucked perfusly) the 1st 2 seasons were worth watching and the one where they came to earth. but they should have stopped there. the superhuman thing when they got to earth was far fetched.

The reason that it was switched to a girl in the newer series was so that it actually could get aired. The people who air things weren't excited about it, so the producers compromised starbuck's gender to get on tv. kind of a funny story actually.

I think that these Older Episodes are much better than the newer Battlestar Galactica Series that was on SCI FI channel. The story lines and the cast are better. I don't understand why Starbuck is a man in the original series and on the newer series Starbuck was a women. That would be like making another Tomb Raider movie and changing Lora Croft from a woman to a man and it suppose to be the same character, just don't understand why they did that.

for bringing us the bsgverse..the only thing that bothers me is that it is not possible that they had no planetary defenses..

its not convincing that they believed sooo much that the cylons wanted peace to leave their worlds defenseless..they should of at least had the sense to leave a few battlestars and vipers around in orbit..then explain how the cylon forces were too much for those minimal defenses

I believe you're referring to Galactica 1980, which was ABC's response to the massive viewer campaign to bring back BSG.
