Nasas failure rate is astronomical. 80% of what it does could be outsourced, would have lower failure rates and still cost less. Implying that without nasa certain/any software wouldnt have been developed is laughable. Ask a developer. The problem isnt getting the software written, it is finding a niche for software. And to imply that nasa "provides us military dominance" is literally laughable. We have military dominance because we waste more of our budget on it than the next 100 nations combined. And to give nasa credit for airfoils? You must be joking.Nasa has become a wasteful, incompetant beuracracy who are holding back the commercialisation of space. Intentionally because the nasas employees (especially the engineers and scientists) sense of entitlement. Its time to get rid of most of nasa before they twiddle away our future completelyl.

I have personally met some of the Apollo, Mercury, and Gemini astronauts. They are some of the most intelligent people I have ever met. They conversations that they have at a breakfast table are about complex physics.By the way, I'm a daughter of an astronaut who flew into space four times and was recently inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame next to some of the first astronauts.You have no idea what it is like to sit and watch someone you love traveling into space. Once the engines are on, there is no stopping. My mother sacrificed so much for her job.
