should have been. i agree with other opinions this is now a hidden

Conceptually the best of the Irwin Allen series of the 1960's. Unfortunately Mr. Allen's series started strong, as this first episode attests, but by the end the quality drifted off. The problem is that once the historical visits end, the series winds up being filled with silver painted aliens. Whilst well done, the problem, and the difficulty in a remake is what do you do with it? The government allows the project to continue, at least until Doug and Tony can be returned in time to the present, once they're back, what then? An alternative idea of "fixing" historical problems to return the timeline to "normal" was explored in a remake pilot movie, and while that works, it didn't gain enough sponsorship to become a new series. Best to take this one as the underappreciated gem that it is with the very good episodes and those that, um don't work quite as well, but are part of the whole show.   See 3 other replies
