Dim-witted sheriff, Claude Akins, bumbles an investigation into the drowning death of a beautiful socialite. Socially-constrained and reputation-conscious townsfolk conspire to protect themselves from the truth, at any cost, even sacrificing another one of their own to maintain the status quo. Shades of the Stepford Wives, but it isn't just wives who are social robots here.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I like the intrigue spun into the writing to the point you have to see it to the end. Good seeing where a lot of stars got their start.
