This episode serves two goals: It provides a clear break between the Secret Spy Dr. Smtith, and the Crazy Uncle Dr. Smith. Secondly, it shows off all the old monsters from Season One IN COLOR. Of course, they could have avoided all this if they just filmed the whole season one in color in the first place. Why they had to wait until 1966 is beyond me.

Great job from Irwin Allen with outer space version of code of justice in this episode. Some humor, but remarkable job of staying focused on the seriousness and suspense that science fiction should have, and justice enforcement mixed in. Makes the episode even more nerve racking and jittery. Especially having the memory machine--but only in a perfect world of course. If this were possible all 5 billion people on earth would probably end up guilty, because nobody can hide their lie. Judge Eiko in the tribuno and the deep authoritarian like voice definitely would send chills through anyones heart if this were for real. There are other episodes, I think were too colorful and comical, I feel spoils science fiction. But maybe that helps to lift the other good ones.

This episode really marked the end of the old Dr. Smith. Sure, in season 2 the show treated viewers to the less sinister, more shrieking, and funnier Dr. Smith. Gone were the days he would try to outright kill people, or trick Will into slavery as a ship's brain (as opposed to giving Will a little push into life as a circus performer).Here the diabolical Smith is tried and found guilty. But Smith is saved because he's new Smith.

Really intersting episode with Dr. Smith charged with all sorts of space crimes by a tribunal filled with past wronged aliens including the Giant Brain, the Bush Creature, the Giant Spider, and other creepy alies. Flashbacks are nicely combined with Smith's usual hysterics and the Robot priceless quips to save the day.
Fasinatinly good. Kudos for whole case on this one!!!!

Lost in Space is one the few scifi-comedies that is out there. As a young boy, I liked the scifi. As a teenager, I loved the comedic elements. The best part of the show is built around the Robot and Dr. Smith. Once newbies appreciate this fact, this episode has some funny moments. Great Smith moments: when he tells the family members not to mention his name when they testify, when he has Will digging his escape tunnel because his back is hurting, and when he insults the judge. Great Robot moments: when he mocks Smith (as kuznit says above)!

These were sensational, everyone( almost) was about peace and intellect,exchanging and exploring culture alongside with science. I was particularly amused at Dr.Smith being mocked and impersonated by the robot while to stand trial for being himself.Great show.
