they usually wait a season or two before they mess with openings and music changes. what happened here? still a great show.

The zoo antics were not very entertaining, and the plot not very gripping. However, the part where A.J. is shot with a PCP-laced tranquilizer dart, is weird/funny.
Note that "Dr. Sandy Sawyer" (the zoo vet) is played by Darleen Carr, who would become Jameson Parker's ("A.J."'s) wife 10 years later.
Also note that the annoying girl who pelts Rick with peanuts while he's in the bear pit, is Adrienne DeGuere, the daughter of the show's creator and producer, Philip DeGuere. It was a pretty gratuitous cameo for his kid, I think.
