Maybe "the singularity" or maybe not, but it just occurred to me, we are at a transition point in human evolution now. With populations spiking so hard and reaching so high, we are going to soon have either massive wars or some other calamity that will leave "normal people" unable to cope in the coming new age. Only those best adapted will survive long and be able to compete and thrive soon. There will be large numbers of people who are somehow much more able to survive in a world where most of us can't. They will become our overlords and their abilities will make comparable competition meaningless. Only a few will be able to compete in the world that is coming and thus a massive power shift is going to occur. It may even lead to mechanized enforcement of birth control and the like. Robots will take over our world, but they will be controlled by those few who decide to take matters into their own hands because no one can stop them and they will feel that they have a moral duty to do it in order to preserve a livable world for their own future and their own off-spring. Population counts WILL go down. The world as we know it is already ending with our addictions to "connectedness" and constant entertainment of various kinds and at the same time constant work. We are driving ourselves crazy, putting ourselves out of work, and putting those who can cope with it in the driver's seat for the future.
