This was a fun one. It all came flooding back to me; I remember watching this one several times as a kid. Interesting to watch the robot's personality develop over the course of the seasons; he's really grown quite a backbone here, bouncing jibes off of Dr. Smith. The fun part of watching this as an adult are things like the robot turning toward the camera to do his slow burns and deliver one-liners.
LIS has generally been thought of as (admittedly low-rent) sci-fi, but I think this episode nicely illustrates that it was really more of a fanstasy-sci-fi combo. A magic hat, space-witches and werewolves, this vending machine thingy ... I love that they're stranded on a planet that's become sort of a cosmic junk-drawer for all these amazing alien devices. It's as if this show sprang directly from a child's imagination, complete with a charming lack of logic and an energetic leap from one adventure to the next.
Verda was really quite ahead of her time; her hat could have been one of those suction-dsic things people put in their car windows.
