Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_full 5 Minutes in... Geat! Kurosawa on Hulu
I hope Hulu starts getting more of these. Things that you used to have to see at some Flim art house place. Digging all the David Lynch and Coen Brothers Stuff too.

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_full greater things
90% of Americans would hate this movie because it doesn't have exploding cars, the occasional breast and a slew of other sophomoric delights. I sometimes envy the blissful, but then I see or hear or taste something like this and I remember why it is worth it.

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_empty What a great film
Certainly a film like this will lose something with the different language involved and the different culture represented. I thought it was very thought provoking and presented the persons involved with a great deal of sensetivity. Having been raised in the Orient I greatly enjoyed the lavish sets and costuming as well.

Thank you for making this great historical drama available to us. Does anyone know whether the events portrayed here were presented accurately?

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_emptyRating_emptyRating_empty Too much
Too many characters and way too long for that type of story. While the costumes and sets were lavish, there were too many things going on this movie that often made it very confusing and way out of place.

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_empty Amazing - Kurosawa is one of the greatest directors
This movie, like many of his movies (Ran, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo) are story driven classics which draws you in with their plots, characters, gorgeous costumes and sets, as well as timeless subjects such as love, repent, war, revenge........

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_full Old movies done right
I thought that with its massive length, this movie would drag, but in fact, it kept my attention and interested in the overall plot. Haven't seen a lot of Kurosawa's work, but if this is any indication of his films, I can see why he's a legend. Great flick, check it out!

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_full Add this to your movie collection.
I watched The Seven Samurai and Zatoichi both shows are great in their own categories. Kagemusha definitely rises in its own merit and worthy to be in anyone's great movie collection. The movie is a character driven story that feels far superior in today's movies that abuse CG and highly glamorized actors/actresses (I'm looking at you Star Wars).
