I enjoyed the first 3/4 of this season, particularly the storylines detailing Rolen's past and episodes focusing on Oreldo and Mardis' friendship. However, the Lt.'s character (and her overwrought ridiculous dialogue) became nearly insufferable by the end of the season, culminating in the final 5 episodes which I found to be laughably bad. The show's writers have done a respectable job creating interesting characters, but they consistently fall flat when trying to craft dramatic/tense situations.

The series has some less then stellar writing, and some dialogue feels out of place, very few of the villains were interesting. On the other hand the show was entertaining to watch and had some very intense moments. I would recommend it, and would like to have seen more.

1.) consider this, shows like this aren't written for literary value, but rather to provide entertainment, and if you weren't entertained by it (in one way or another) then why did you watch it to the end? Besides... things like Avatar (the Sci-fi 3-D movie, not the anime) which has a TERRIBLY cliche plot line won plenty of recognition for the fact its beautiful... so give the writers a break.
2.) To all those people who complain about Dubs. Yes, they often aren't as good as the original. Yes, much is lost in translation. Does it matter that much that you have to scream and complain about it? this was free. Stop complaining. Other people don't want to have to read. (mind you, I thoroughly agree Subs are better once you start to get the nuances of how they talk.)
3.) Consider the target audience. This was clearly targeted towards young adults and people (like us no doubt) who want something to give them a touch of entertainment for a half hour. As such, the idea that it only touches on the start of ideas like nobility and compassion and the like is perfectly acceptable. You wouldn't try to target a grandiose tome of exquisite prose to people who wouldn't have the patience to read it to the end, now would you? There's nothing wrong with good writing. Indeed, let us have more of it. However, there's equally nothing WRONG with mediocre writing by definition.All that said, I give the show 3 stars... nothing special, but certainly decent.
