Not just in lost in Space, but in real life, as with many other films. Guy was a natural as well as admirable and integrity. He was an excellent role as the father for lost in space. When he was pushed to the point of no return because other peoples faults (Dr Smith) Guy saved the day. But he put his own personal safety up too with the so called "wheel of life". He would never fade from danger, but as was seen he didn't hesitate to defend. Most would expect most others to avoid shame or from most common assumption, to shine in the spotlight for fame and glory by accepting certain challenges. And that is human nature. On the contrary, one can find humbling and by no means to misjudge Guy Williams, as he never needed to do any of that, because his was remarkable with many good qualities and talents, and did not have to prove anything, which is a strong sense of confidence. You will notice when he declined the challenge many times, because he simply was not interested and suspected an ill-fated consequence to someone else's expense--and again proving something was unnecessary. And his explanation was probably the most convincing and made good sense. But Will of course want otherwise so he can look up to his Father. From Guy's past roles and his known good character, his good judgement and descetion has been very prudent, probably more so than 99% of the people out there-even in the real world. We lost a very nice human being after his passing in 1989.
Go in Peace.
