I can't completely disagree. Only in the sense that both Romeo and Juliet did not know the love of their families before their ill-fated romance. For Juliet, her family was slaughtered by Lord Montague in his quest to rid Neo-Verona of all Capulets. For Romeo, his murderous father had no room in his heart for affection towards his son, only to see that his son followed closely in his tyranical footsteps. Even Romeo's mother abandoned her son to live in a convent to escape her evil husband. I don't think the statement meant that you learn love all by yourself with no one to help you understand it, but with that special someone, you can know love. Personally, even though I had the love of my family, I didn't know "love" until I met the one that I was destined to be with. I believe that's the kind of love they are referring to. But we all know what happens when we attempt to translate complex and heartfelt sayings from one language to another, it gets: Lost in Translation.
