The version made in the 1950s with Stewart Granger and Deborah Kerr is better. It has plenty of action in it and was a big hit. I liked this movie just to see how it differed from the 1950s classic. One thing I loved though was the scene at 1:05:38 where the English fellow says "last time I fired this thing it didn't fire", he pulls the trigger of the revolver and it goes snap.
"Still doesn't" he says. That was funny.

A number of movies were made about King Solomons mines and Allen Quartermain. This is by far the BEST!!! Not only do you have a few twists and turns, you have some great characters, and in addition, you have the great Paul Robeson singing some beautiful music. What more could you ask for?

For a movie called 'King Solomon's' mine, they payed all of about 10 seconds to the mythology of King Solomon. Average fair.
If you have the option, skip this and watch 'Treasure of the Sierra Madre'

I feel the movie needed more action. It seems like the Indiana Jones series took this and made it action packed. This is not the worst treasure hunting movie i ever saw but i feel it could have been a bit better. Still enjoyable to watch.

What is with you idiots. As a product of it's time this film is incredible. To delete or change anything would desecrate it. It would be like blacking out the background of the Mona Lisa because it distracts you from the lady. Paul Robeson was an incredible talent. His work needs to be saved for posterity not muted. Open your minds and shut your mouths.
