Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_full The Day The Earth Stood Still
So many movies fo that era had messages hidden in them. Is peace, true peace so unobtainable? If our sub concious could have picked up on the story...where would we be now? This is by far one of my most favorite Science Fiction films ever. Not so many special effects, but than again they weren't needed.

Rating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_fullRating_full A timeless classic
This movie is severely dated by modern standards but its message is more appropriate for our time than it was when it was made. This scene stands out to me in that Gort is about to destroy the world. A cool head (well, except for the screaming part, but that was expected in the '50s) is able to work through her fear and deliver the message that aborts said destruction. We need some cool heads to work through the fear in our world and deliver the message that aborts the destruction we continue to foster on ourselves. Not the nuclear holocaust that was the aim of the movie but to save us from our own senseless hatred of things (and people) we don't understand. I always saw a message in this movie. Generally I dislike movies with a message on general principle but this one was so well done. I wish we had writers that could come up with equally good material now.
