I don't know how most men feel about this, but I have a request from many adults of both genders: Could you please just give us the news? ABC definitely has the best global resources for getting us information, but Diane Sawyer is wasting precious seconds adding her dramatic readings to the broadcast stories. I am interested in vital national issues, but I'll pick on a recent feature story as a typical annoyance: You didn't give us background yesterday or today as to why we're shipping one of our national zoo's main attractions to China. Instead of wasting seconds purring and adding dramatic inflections to the phrasing, take the time allocated to this story and tell us why this is happening in an additional sentence. Was there defining information edited out of this story because you have to add drama to every phrase?
