First, to Vivian Oblivian, Jesus would not just give you healthcare. Jesus would address someone's spiritual needs first and foremost; physical healing was just one aspect of His ministry that He used to glorify God. Nearly everyone who came to Him for healing left Him believing and/or proclaiming He was the Son of God. Second, so many turn to the government for things the church or other philanthropic organizations can do more efficiently and in general just better (I challenge you to compare MDS with FEMA). The Bible teaches that the church should feed the hungry, clothe the needy, and tend the sick. But the government tends to hamper rather than help and the church (for a myriad of reasons) wouldn't be able to meet all those needs for everyone. The Bible also teaches that we shouldn't covet anything anyone else has, but those looking to the government for free healthcare have already disregarded that. Two things that seem to be missing from our post-modern vocabulary are delayed gratification and sacrifice. The microwave mentality permeates every facet of life. Next to nobody is willing to forego anything now in order to be in a better position or have something better later. Anyone ever heard of the group given the name "The Greatest Generation"? During WW2, people would make personal sacrifices on a daily basis (of things some today would call "necessities") for people they didn't even know (military personnel on the front lines). My grandparents and their peers understood that the government's rationing of a host of items during the war would, if the Allies won, would mean a chance at a better future for them and generations to come. Most today lack the courage to even take such a chance. Whether or not people admit it, almost every major decision that comes along requires a concession to be made in some form or fashion.
