I was fortunate in that the first song I heard from the Pixies was "Hey", it left a mark. I was alot younger then with alot less responsility, so music was life in those days.
The opening quote by Cobain says alot, there's a reason he was trying to rip the Pixies, they were that good and influencial.
It was great to actually see them actually destroy my stereotype I had pigeonholed them into, just a bunch of(for the most part) sober musicians hanging on to what they've got for as long as they can keep it.
Charles is as pretentious as I figured he'd be, but hey it IS his band.
Joey is that nerd musician type that you knew in high school that could pick up an instrument and be fluent at it in a couple days.
Kim just blew me away with her always smiling personality, I know she was probably wanting to add to alot of the set decisions but she sucked it up and dealt with it.
I dig Kim Deal.All in all great documentary, brought back a lot of fond memories.
Long live the Pixies!

This film really gives you an insight to the history of the band and the individual challenges all the members have faced, but seems to offer no proper insight as to the AMAZING quality of their live performance in the absolute present. I just saw them last night in Santa Cruz 11/21/11 and that show was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!! Yes, eight exclamation points worth. They have gotten WAY better, even from 90's show quality standards... the show was.... well there are no words to adequately convey how good it was... UTTERLY FANTASTIC!!!

The live recordings were excellent, but the band coverage was a bit too candid and intimate. It left too little about the band dynamic to the imagination. They probably would have had a better comeback career if they had not made this documentary sadly.

What a bittersweet glimpse into this band. If you like the Pixies, you will enjoy this. left me wishing for more.

The Pixies were game changers in the music scene. Winning and tiger blood all around.

Decided to watch this a second time, because after my first viewing I had a vague unease that the band was so... human? With this knowledge in my pocket, watching it a second time allowed me to enjoy the music and the experience that the band had with each other. A real, honest inside picture of a band that we rarely get.

fame and fortune is the dry hallow drug every bit as addictive as smack,
the music is ok,
vocals suck,
personalities sad and not real deep,
documentary, makes you wonder why people would embarrass themselves, money?
